Vision

To empower New Mexico middle school age youth with the resilience, confidence, and an academic foundation needed to choose a positive path forward, fostering a future with opportunities.

Mentorship

Mentorship is a cornerstone of the Governor’s Summer ChalleNGe Program. New Mexico Nation Guard (NMNG) service members serve as trained mentors, role models, and coaches who work directly with students throughout the program.

Through daily interaction, NMNG mentors build trusting relationships that promote accountability, confidence, and personal responsibility.

They provide consistent encouragement while holding students to high expectations, helping participants learn how to set goals, overcome obstacles, and persist through challenges.

Combat Learning Loss

Provides targeted math and literacy instruction to reduce learning loss and re-engage students experiencing attendance challeNGes. Academic success, reinforced through small group instruction, mentorship, and purposeful challeNGe, helps students rebuild confidence and reconnect with school.

Physical Fitness

Daily physical fitness is an essential component of the Governor’s Summer ChalleNGe Program and supports students’ physical health, mental well-being, and readiness to learn.
